Orange House is estimated to have been built in the 1820s. The house was originally called “Cedar Lodge” then also “The Grange”. The name was changed again by Count Robert Bentinck (a Captain in HM Army) as Count Bentinck was connected to the famous House of Orange in The Netherlands (associated with William of Orange). Count Bentinck sold the house in 1927. As a point of interest, the front door of the main house has a stained glass panel depicting the crest of the House of Orange.
